Septic Smart Week
Montgomery County is reminding residents with septic systems about the importance of proper maintenance during SepticSmart Week, Sept. 15-19. The Department of Permitting Services (DPS) is responsible for permitting septic systems in the County. Read the news release and watch the video for details!
FREE Back-to-School Vaccinations
The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is offering free vaccinations for school-aged children (pre-K through high school) at locations throughout the County until the end of September. Free vaccines are available to Montgomery County school-aged children who are missing any required immunizations.
H20 Summit

FCC Permits: New Online Portal and Process
The Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services (DPS) has streamlined the process for applying for and renewing Fire Code Compliance (FCC) permits. Read the news release for details.
Active Aging Week
Montgomery County will celebrate “Active Aging Week” (AAW) from Monday, Oct. 6, through Sunday, Oct. 12, as part of an international effort to highlight the benefits of maintaining healthy, active lifestyles—physically, mentally, and socially—for older adults. During the week, various free programs, events, and activities for residents 50 and over will take place throughout the County. Gas Leaf Blowers Are Out, Electric Are In
Montgomery County updated the noise law to address the environmental, noise, and health concerns related to gas-powered leaf blowers and leaf vacuums. Effective July 1, 2025, the use of handheld, backpack, and walk-behind gas-powered leaf removal equipment is banned in Montgomery County.
